Introduces students to college reading strategies and purposes. Special attention is paid to vocabulary development, note-taking, and reading comprehension strategies.

Learning Outcomes
Use appropriate reading comprehension strategies for texts of various genres. Analyze and respond to readings critically, creatively, and personally. Practice independent and self-regulated reading. Evaluate the validity and reliability of source material. Describe and demonstrate the use of several strategies for understanding difficult vocabulary. Demonstrate an increase in background knowledge in target content areas. Use and describe the benefits and drawbacks of various graphic organizers and other note-taking strategies.
