MUSC 1120 - Class Guitar II



3 Credits
Provides intermediate multi stylistic study of chord structure, notation, improvisation, composition, and ensemble.This course is designed for students who have completed Beginning class guitar (MUSC 1119 ), have enrolled in Applied Guitar (MUSC 1133 ) or have auditioned for Guitar faculty.

Pre-Requisites MUSC 1133 , MUSC 1119 

Major Content Areas
Composition: 10%

Fingerboard Theory: 10%

Chord chart reading: 15%

Improvisation 10%

Ensemble: 30%

Note reading: 25%

Learning Outcomes
Read major and minor chords in all positions of the fingerboard

Read standard notation and follow a baton in a large ensemble

Read two part notation with rhythmic subdivisions up to the sixteenth note

Understand I, ii, IV, V and vi chord structure and learn to compose with these elements

Improvise on the 12 bar blues

Demonstrate knowledge of all the notes and the three basic chord forms of the finger board
