MUSC 1133 - Applied Guitar
2 Credits Provides students with individualized instruction to learn how to play the guitar. Lessons are arranged directly with the instructor and a course of study will be chosen based on the student’s current skill level, abilities, and needs. These credits may be repeated as often as desired. An extra fee is required for this course.
Major Content Areas Literature: 25% Rhythm: 10% Exercises- Arpeggios, scales in thirds and/or sixths: 25% Sight Reading- single note and chords: 15% Scales-Pentatonic, Blues, Major, Minor (Harmonic & Melodic): 25%
Learning Outcomes Investigate the contextual information related to the repertoire being performed. Develop a vocabulary through which to intelligently communicate information about music. Demonstrate proper hand positions, fingerings, and other basic techniques through performance. Demonstrate understanding of notation and theoretical knowledge by application to performance of a variety of repertoire. Perform literature appropriate to students playing level/abilities.
