Gender and Women’s Studies, A.A. with Emphasis

Program Outcomes
Articulate the key theoretical constructs of feminist scholarship and how these ideas have, and continue to, intersect with feminist activism, other social justice movements, and scholarship in related fields.
Understand gender as a site of power and domination that intersects with other systemic forms of oppression to create and sustain individual, social, political, economic, and/or environmental inequities.
Use feminist theory to understand the range and diversity of gender identity and subjugation, and how gendered and racialized forces of power and domination manifest across and within different cultures and regions.

Gender and Women’s Studies Curriculum: 12 Credits
Restricted Program Electives (choose two): 6 Credits
Additional General Education: 28 Credits
The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) requires a minimum of 40 credits, some of which will be satisfied by the required Gender & Women’s Studies curriculum. You must complete the MnTC courses that are specifically designated below. You may choose the other courses from each goal area from the list located at: Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) To streamline your degree, you are encouraged to choose MnTC Goal 1-6 courses that also meet MnTC Goal areas 7-10. Electives: 18 Credits
Electives may be courses numbered 1000 level or higher from any discipline. This may include additional courses from the Restricted Program electives and/or the MnTC. Examples of non-MnTC courses that may be taken include the following disciplines: ACCT, BUS, CJS. CS, CRDV, EDU, EMS, ENGR, HLTH, HSER, ITC, PA and PE. Full-Time Recommended Course Of Study

1 It may be possible to choose a course that also meets MnTC Goal 7, 8, 9, or 10. You are encouraged to take MnTC courses that complement majors of interest at the four-year level. 2 These credits may be taken as electives if Goal Areas 7, 8, 9, and 10 are completed as part of another course and you have earned 40 MnTC credits. 3 Electives may be 1000+ level courses from any discipline, including additional MnTC courses.
