Explores the basic development in the physical, cognitive and psychosocial areas from conception through adolescence. Pertinent theories, studies, and methodologies are addressed.

Learning Outcomes
Identify developmental histories and family lifestyles to determine their impact on the functioning of children and adolescents in families.
Examine the intersectionality of diversity and individual differences as they relate to the development of children and adolescents in families.
Demonstrate understanding of theoretical perspectives of child and adolescent development.
Describe scientific research methods used in child and adolescent developmental psychology.
Examine the various characteristics of physical, cognitive and social-emotional growth during childhood and adolescence.
Demonstrate understanding of developmental norms and processes of growth and change in children and adolescents and distinguish behaviors that are part of typical development from those that are different from typical development.
