MUSC 2250 - Special Topics in Music

Studies specific topics in music which will be presented on a rotating basis. Course topics include but are not limited to: western classical music, American popular music and its sub-genres, folk music, non-western music, music and globalization, or the study of prominent composers, bands/artists, or style periods. This course may be repeated under different topics.

Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate their understanding of major composers/performers in a given genre/style. Trace the history and development of a music genre/style. Conduct or participate in fieldwork studying music cultures (both domestically and/or internationally). Describe the basic dynamics of a particular music genre. Analyze and synthesize observations from a live performance.
