MUSC 2189 - Internship in Music Industry
3 Credits Provides students with supervised work experience in the Music Industry. Students will have the opportunity to receive hands-on work experience while working with cutting-edge music industry professionals and arts organizations. This internship will take place off campus and students will be encouraged to develop both content and networking skills. Student/employer compatibility matching will vary based on student need and industry trends. The workload will be arranged and approved by the instructor and will total 140 total hours.
Pre-Requisites MUSC 1111 , MUSC 1113 , and MUSC 2128
Major Content Areas Administrative Work
Basic Artist Management
Audio/Visual Editing and Production
Applying Musical knowledge to pertinent situations
Computer and/or technical work such as music library organization, music software, compositional work (Finale or Sibelius), basic web maintenance such as uploading audio/visual files to websites, etc.
Networking
Learning Outcomes Participate in the required credit hours of field experience in the music industry
Demonstrate ability to participate competently and network in the music industry workplace
Practice application of music technology skills in Audio/Video recording and production
Practice interpretation and application of musical skills and knowledge of musical function
