MUSC 1141 - Jazz History
3 Credits Provides learning experiences in the study of jazz music, musical instruments, jazz artists and outstanding musical performances. It includes the study of historical developments in jazz and its impact in other musical styles and world music. Attendance to two live concerts is required for grade at the student’s own expense.

Learning Outcomes Demonstrate knowledge of the dynamics and protocol. Demonstrate knowledge of the musical instruments used in Jazz music. Identify selected Jazz tunes. Identify the different historical periods and important artists/performers of Jazz music .Analyze and synthesize the role of globalization and world cultures, and their impact on the creation of jazz.
