MATH 0103 - Statistics Support



2 Credits
Focuses on the skills and concepts needed for success in MATH 1103 . This course is for students concurrently enrolled in MATH 1103 . Students will receive extra support in arithmetic, algebra, problem solving, technology, and study skills.

Pre-Requisites MATH 0840 

Co-Requisites MATH 1103  

Major Content Areas
Just-in-time statistics topics, which may include: basic probability, order of operations, calculator skills, word-problem translations, number line concepts, interpreting slope and y-intercept (70%)

Skills for academic success, which may include: time management, study skills, math test-taking strategies, organizational skills, confidence building, connecting with campus resources (30%)

Learning Outcomes
Use a scientific or graphing calculator to perform the types of calculations encountered in statistics

Analyze context clues and translate words into symbols.

Engage in self-reflection/exploration as appropriate to make changes to personal attitudes and behaviors.

Solve problems involving the skills and concepts from arithmetic and algebra that will aid in solving statistical problems.

Evaluate current time allocation and develop a plan to manage time in a manner that fosters timely goal completion and student success.
