HLTH 1154 - Mindfulness, Meditation, and Movement



2 Credits
Using a mindfulness approach, examining the dimensions of wellness; including physical, intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, and others. Students will complete self-assessments, breathing exercises, meditation, and physical activity. Goal setting and behavior change will also be discussed. This course may be used to fulfill both the health and physical education requirements for the A.A. degree.

Learning Outcomes
Describe the dimensions of wellness, explain how each specific dimension plays a valuable role in well-being and disease prevention.

Participate in a variety of physical activities, including yoga, Pilates, hiking/walking, and others.

Practice meditation and mindfulness exercises to promote multi-dimensional wellness.

Discuss the behavior change process as it relates to personal wellness.

Explain how food choices affect overall health and wellness.

Discuss the relationship between stress and wellness.

Examine the role of mindfulness on overall health and wellness.
