EMS 2540 - Special Rescue Operations
2 Credits Provides classroom and practical training in rescue operations and techniques including extrication, water rescue, high-level and sub-level rescue, search and recovery, multiple casualty situations, incident command, and hazardous material awareness. Also includes emergency driving skills practice.

Learning Outcomes Describe principles of safely operating ground ambulance. Demonstrate proficiency in ambulance operation. Discuss the use of proper PPE with regards to HAZMAT incidences. Explain proper procedures for conducting rescue operations during water, trench and confined space emergencies. Explain EMS support for fire personnel. Incorporate FEMA Incident Command System principals in simulated emergency calls. Demonstrate proper techniques for low angle rope rescue. Describe vehicle construction and related extrication techniques.
